Summer Vibes

I have to say – I’m really excited to be hitting Melbourne in the middle of summer. Before uni starts, I intend to have a full-blown summer experience. Whether it’s lazing down on St Kilda’s beach, or having a picnic in a park  – you bet your ass I’m there.

From hair, imagery and subtle graphics, here’s what I’m hoping my first summer in Melbourne would be like.

Going Bold for Work

I’ve been going nuts about prints lately, and to be honest- why not? They’re vibrant, and you don’t need to accessorize like a buffoon just to look hi-street. I wrote an article on Lipstiq.com today about wearing bold hues for the workplace, and I think I did a pretty decent job putting some outfits together on Polyvore. This is where I wish I had these amazing pieces in my closet.

How to Pull of Bold Colors in the Workplace

• Go for one bright-colored piece and keep the rest of the colors simple. Neutral shades like beige, white and black can never go wrong.

•  If you’re not too keen on wearing bold colors, go for bright colored accessories instead. If you’re wearing a solid black dress or a white dress, dress it up with some neon accessories. This way, you’ll have a pop of color, and still keep it appropriate.

• If you really like prints, wear colored patterns on smaller pieces like a blouse and wear a blazer over it. This is especially great for boardroom meetings.

• If you’re keen on wearing bold colors, but not quite sure how, go for pastels instead. These sweet shades bring out a lot of color without overwhelming.
