It Gets Better

What do you do when you can’t sleep at night?

I toss and turn, try to sleep, then give up and eat ice-cream. It is indeed quite a treat for someone who just isn’t getting any [sleep].

I am well-aware of putting up quality posts, but can I just defend myself by saying that I am a little out of it? Hey, I’m only human.  I’ve suddenly lost that spark to write thanks to exhaustion and anxiety. Well, it happens.

Monday’s are hard for me. Not that I’m ridden with a lot of work to do, but mainly just getting over the weekend. Don’t get me wrong, I find myself leaning toward being excited about going to work by 40%, but the reality of it all, is that you have to get through one obstacle before you can enjoy your bowl of ice-cream. In this case, my weekend-recovery obstacle was my sleeping pattern. Always has been, and always will be.

Of course, a good work-out might help me fall asleep, but Sundays are meant for lazy couch-potato activities and book-reading. But I do enjoy a good hour of Yoga, but unfortunately, Yoga does not help me sleep. But Xanax does! Sadly, Xanax is out of reach from my grubby fingers, so I’ll stick to ice-cream and cable TV.

But despite all these disappointments, I did receive good news this morning where I will be getting a raise! I’ve been in this company as a copywriter for 6 months now, and without any formal training or a writing background, my boss says I truly deserve it. I think I do too! I smell a shopping spree! Though, I did just buy a bulk of work-appropriate clothes and my Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette.

Look at all those colors. Amazing variety of nudes and bold shades. I can’t wait to play with the blues!

Shoppy Choppy

Yesterday, I did some shopping. I don’t earn enough, but boy, do I love to shop and dine.

Control, Evie! The voice inside me says.

But I’m sorry. I find it very hard to resist the temptations of gorgeous galores. And cake. Oo man, I love cake. Light sponge, with layers of cream icing and little bits of nuts. Awwww. For my birthday this year, can I just get one big cake with lots of cream icing AS my birthday gift? I want it. I want it.

Secret Recipe does White Chocolate Macadamia cake. Its so simple, yet so good. How could a white chocolate-lover resist? *salivates*

So anyways. Back to my shopping list…I decided to buy some nail polish over at Nail Fiesta to give my nails some colors without spending RM100 on a trip to the nail salon. I did spend RM130 (apprx 42USD) on…

Colored nails, just in time for Chinese New Year! I was actually deciding between two crucial China Glaze colors. Ingrid from the Vintage Vixen collection and Sunset Sail (pic above).

The color looks delicious. Chocolate-y with some golden shimmer. I know it will definitely go well with my skintone, but it would actually blend in with skintone and just make it look blah. And then I stumbled upon Sunset Sail and I was swooned. But I still couldn’t decide, so I got Rachelle’s help and she voted on Sunset Sail. Huzzah. A lovely peachy shimmer for my nails and it will stand out. I’m still a little anxious, but let’s wait until tomorrow, shall we.

I also stopped by at Sephoras with Rachelle to enquire on the price for the Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow Palette. I have an offer online with a 10% discount and free shipping, so I’m in a bit of a kerfuffle here. But I still love my Rollergirl Palette so I might purchase that in February or March.

 

I did not leave Sephora’s empty handed, though. I wanted to buy the Breakfast Scrub by Soap and Glory to help beautify my skin before my boyfriend arrives, but I didn’t really need a giant jar (despite it smelling my pancakes and maple syrup, makes it so difficult for me to say no). But I did say no, and got myself a tiny travel-size jar of Flake Away Body Scrub and Soap and Glory’s Glad Hair Day Shampoo and Conditioner (travel-size). So three teeny tiny items to fit my suitcase for a sweet little holiday with my boyfriend.

In The Mail – Urban Bride by Urban Decay

My Urban Bride kit finally arrived in the mail. Well, technically. It actually arrived a few days ago, but since no one was home, the postal service left me a note to come pick it up from the Postal pick-up point in town, and so I got a lift from my mother on Saturday morning to pick it up.

I actually bought this a day after Christmas and it took almost two weeks to arrive. This made me a very anxious feline. 😦

After I picked it up, and tore the wrapper open to reveal my gorgeous new make-up box and a variety of wonderful goodies from Urban Decay! The kit includes..

If you think I’d be complaining about the travel-size products, think again. I don’t use that much make up when I go out, so when I do buy beauty products in big bulks, I may not finish it once it expires  (My foundation is more than a year old and not even half was used). This is because I discovered the BB Cream. Hah.

And the fact that almost all of these products are travel-sized, they fit a pouch and I can carry them wherever I go. I’m mainly desired the Eyeshadow Primer Potion, the Razor Sharp Ultra-Definition Finishing Powder and the Make-Up Setting Spray. And now that I have these items, I think I can happily enjoy putting on make-up and not worry about having my eyeshadow melt from the heat and humidity. But all in all, I love every product in the Urban Bride kit.

Sephora’s is still having a sale. I think I might just make a trip someday soon for a itty bitty haul!

Indulge!

I’m guilty today for a number of things. Wearing a dress to work (rare sight to see) and having two large cookies and Fanta grape soda for lunch. It didn’t help that I stayed over with Rachel last night in her apartment, spending the night watching Bridesmaids and e-shopping for nail polish, having ooey gooey pizza from Pizza Hut and stuffing down chocolate bars and brownie cookies.

You would think from all the sugar rush from last night would eventually get to me and my sweet tooth would say “No more, Evie! No more”.

But, not really. My wallet said “COOKIES COOKIES COOKIES” and to Subway I go, to buy palm-sized cookies to munch and go mmmmm, delightful, while I water it down with Fanta grape soda without any ice. I like grape soda. Don’t you?

PS. I had a bar of Kinder Bueno White chocolate in the morning. I’m going to die of diabetes, aren’t I?

But don’t worry so much. Despite my tendency to go overboard with candy, I do enjoy a good Caesar Salad with Raw Salmon. *cough*

I’m quite into leopard prints and despite my chunky thighs, I’m beginning to feel a little comfortable in shorts. I don’t know if its the added confidence, but I’m opting to wear my home-made denim shorts out. Maybe its the weather. I’m digging this, by the way!

Back to Work

Its Tuesday! Or third day of the new year! Or BACK-TO-WORK DAY! Or until recently, travel-to-work-from-the-suburbs day!

Not much has changed, really. Except the fact that I now take 2 hours to get from my parent’s house to the office (took me 10 minutes from my apartment). And I have something to b*tch about; The Weather! There are no clouds in sight and the humidity level’s 85%! This morning while getting dressed for work, it was nice and cool in my room, but I still felt grimy and icky.

God, please let it rain. Its not rained for 3 to 4 days now, and I would really like to not use the air-conditioner for a while.

Travelling from Rawang is so tiring! If you live in Malaysia, you’ll know very well that the Metro Bus systems are god-awful! The bus drivers ..they’re like the Genghis Khan of bus drivers. They’re mean and brutal, and they look quite sleazy. And they are bad drivers. Period. Yes, I’m Asian and I apparently come from a race of bad drivers, and that gives me the advantage to say “I know a bad driver when I see one”. And I think I just did! Metro Buses are gruesome buses, and I say that with a passion! They’re never maintained and there’s just something about it that makes it so …unapproachable. An experience in the Metro Bus in Malaysia is never a pleasant one. I washed my hands with anti-bacterial soap once I arrived in the office. Blergh!

I left home at 7.45am and arrived at work at 10am. Late on the first day of work? S’all good! I rely on public transportation that is UNRELIABLE!

Also, the sun is burning my skin, so its time to buy a bottle of sunscreen!

But moving my mind away from my spoiled-self, I have to admit, I really miss my desk at work. It scattered with wires, post-it notes, water containers, and LOTS of papers (books, slide copies, notes, scribblies, etc). Also, not forgetting my Stress-Pig, Anabelle. I give her a big squeeze whenever there’s just too much to handle.

My desk looks busy all the time. But when there’s work, its swimming in PILES of paper! They’re everywhere I sometimes have trouble locating my mouse. I love the clutter. I love it when its neat, but its not MY desk when it there’s no clutter.

I also leave a bottle of Body Shop hand cream in Spiced Vanilla and my mini Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lip-Gloss in Crush (from my Rollergirl Palette).

This may just be a little TMI, but I have not washed my hair in 2 days. Yes, I’m so icky! Actually, my hair’s been tied up in a bun for days from the heat, and I rarely “glow”, so my hair’s feels quite alright. But from all the excessive glowing from my trip to work, my hair is not feeling great. I feels greasy, limp and my scalp! Oooh, my scalp! I think I have to invest in a bottle of dry shampoo too.

I should get back to work now. I had a meeting earlier and it turns out our new project is to help create a campaign for upcoming elections in Malaysia.

So, to conclude…Oh yea!

Hello, 2012!

Happy New Year, my lovelies!

My celebration was fairly minute. I spent my day packing and finalizing the move out of my apartment. It was tiring, but I truly miss my the apartment. Mainly my room and one truly special memory, my first date with my boyfriend. We spent our first day together in my apartment, getting to know each other. I wasn’t being cheeky! I was broke but I still wanted to have a date! I will also miss spending weekends with him, watching movies, snuggling and dining! ❤

Move Day

On another note, I did buy myself a brand new Samsung Galaxy Y, a fairly inexpensive Android Smartphone for RM550 (Approximate 173USD). Its almost similar to my stolen LG Optimus Me in terms of sizing and features. I ❤ my Android.

I honestly think its a great deal for a cellphone. It comes with a SD card adapter, headphones, a micro-USB cable, a charger and 5 colored back covers for your phone. I fashioned my phone in Pink, and decided to match the background images too!

This phone is a steal! And I downloaded a variety of applications too; Soundcloud, Eclectic (Stereomood), uberHype (Hype Machine), Skype, and two special effects applications for the camera, Fx Camera and Retro Cam. I don’t know if I’ve ever said this, but I LOVE POLKA DOTS! They’re absolutely adorable to wear, and although it generally projects someone as bubbly, I love playing with polka-dots to make it look a little grown-up. And then I found this lovely little thing from Trendy Confessions, a Malaysian plus-size e-store! Its adorable and a remarkable steal for RM55 (apprx 17USD). I bought it online just in time for New Year’s, but I have not received it in the mail, yet. Same goes for my Urban Bride kit. I can’t wait for it. Speaking of buys, my dad got me a great Christmas present. Although its a little late, its still an awesome gift; a 120-Hour Online TEFL Certificate Course! We actually stumbled upon it as a Groupon Deal. Its still available for another few days, so if you’d like it, do get it! I am truly exhausted from yesterday, though. My family came over in the afternoon for a barbeque, right until midnight! Being a host can be tiring, hence my late New Year’s Post. If I had the energy, I would doing it immediately as soon as I woke up! I’m going to get some rest now. I’m hoping for a spa treatment. And a grooming session for my eyebrows!

Heading back to work tomorrow. I only got 3 days off, but I still feel like holiday-sie. Do people even used that word?

Anyhow!

I’m feeling bitter today. I don’t know why! I hope my packages come in soon this week! They’re bound to make me happy!
